Concert Music

Works for chamber ensembles, solo instruments, and collaborators

Much of my concert music has emerged through experiences of grief, loss, and remembrance. These works explore composition as a space for honoring and living alongside grief, but also for joy, surprise, experimentation, and the relationships we build through making music together.

A commitment to joy and surprise, to deep imagination, to a kind of buoyant weirdness that feels no obligation to explain itself.

Written by hand during and around Carnival 2022, in the months after Hurricane Ida and a season of storms that struck both New Orleans and rural Iowa, this piece holds joy and grief in the same space: “a small tornado in and of itself,” with swirling currents of gesture, technique, and texture.
